This laid-back seaside village (resident population of around 2000) has loads to offer families, couples and other discerning visitors. Enjoy the quality mix of cafes and restaurants, an eclectic array of specialty and secondhand shops, a Visitors Centre and a variety of activities and recreational pursuits.
Surrounded by beach, river, marine park and nature reserve, Brunswick Heads is a paradise for swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, canoeing, walking, cycling and a host of other activities.
Timber bridges link the riverside to the safe and peaceful Torakina Beach nestled within the breakwater (ideal for kids) and to the white sandy surf beach (patrolled in summer) that stretches 10km's along the coastline to the South all the way to Byron Bay.
The best surf spot is off the north break wall. The north bank of the river hosts a protected rainforest & the southern bank provides a harbour and small marina for fishing boats and small craft. Mt Warning and Mt Chincogan provide a spectacular hinterland backdrop to the river that meanders up to the small town of Mullumbimby.
Spend a leisurely afternoon under the Poinciana trees at the popular and family friendly Hotel Brunswick (the 'Bruns' pub) while listening to great local bands and enjoying al fresco dining and a cocktail.
Pop into the friendly Visitor Information Centre in Park St for further information on activities, tours and adventures beyond the town.
